When Lincoln and Douglas faced each other in the 1860 presidential election, they became the first two major party presidential candidates from the great state of Illinois. Barack Obama is about to become the fifth major presidential candidate from Illinois.Does anyone know the other two Illinois presidential candidates? Send a comment if you know the answer. One is easy, the other is a bit trickier. Details in a few days.

When you say "from" do you mean "born there" or "resident at the time of running for President?" William Jennings Bryan was born in Illinois, but was a resident of Nebraska when he ran for President.
Good point lw--you are a smart one. Ronald Reagan was also born in Illinois--but we don't claim him as one of us. We have standards you know.
